Theme - Discovering Art
Enchanted
Lands
- Students will use various tools, substrates,
materials and medium when creating art projects. These projects will
be created using watercolor, tempera, acrylic, and markers. Projects will include:
Snow Globes, Broadway Playbills, Opera Cards,
We're Not in
Kansas Anymore, Winter Wonderlands, Train Town, Dinosaur Scenes, and artwork illustrating
Tahiti, Patagonia, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, the Amazon, Madagascar, the
Outback of Australia, Serengeti, Ireland, and
New Mexico. A Powerpoint Presentation will
feature U.S. National Parks. A Flash Animation
will be the view from a moving airplane. A
second Flash Animation features different modes of
transportation including a hot air balloon, a
train, a double-decker bus, a funicular incline
cable car, a submarine and a helicopter. Photoshop applications will show images of crazy
buildings from around the world.
- Spectacular
Spaces - Student
projects will depict spectacular spaces on Earth
and beyond. Projects include: Desert Scenes,
Mountain Scenes, Cacti, Palm Trees, Stars, Globe
Scenes, Planets,
Scenes from a Planet, Tundra Scenes, Freshwater
Scenes, Swamp Scenes, Tropical Rain Forest, Grassland Scenes, Deciduous and Coniferous
Forest Scenes, Pine Cones, Acorns, Under the
Sea, Bridges, Views from Windows.
- Wonderful
Wildlife - Students will study wildlife and
learn to depict them in unique ways. Projects include:
Hummingbirds, Thumb Bugs, Snails, Dolphins,
Bird's Nests, Bug Boxes, Safari Sticker Scenes,
Hand Herd Sheep, Undersea Hands, Peacock,
Giraffe, Zoo Doorknob Hangers,
Indian Elephants, Bird Houses, Marsupials, Tropical

- Amazing Artists - Students will
discover, study and

Language Art Workshop Instruction and Curriculum
Grades 1-6
Greetings,
months, days, numbers, basic nouns and verbs in French, German
and Italian
The song "Brother John" in French, German,
Spanish and Italian. (Frere Jacques, Bruder Jacob,
Martinillo, and Fra Martino)
The Pledge of Allegiance in German as well as French
and Spanish.
During
the 2009-2010 school year, students studied numbers
and greetings in several languages in addition to
French, German, Spanish and Italian. These included:
The Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Ireland and Japan.
Students learned about the cultures of these
countries. The course ended in June with a party. The
children chose a country from a hat and brought food
representing that country to the party. Students
created sticker maps that were displayed at the party.
The
2008-2009 course ended with a party with food from
France, Germany and Italy. Students used watercolors
to paint scenes from countries where these languages
are spoken, including many African, European, Asian
countries and areas in North America. The students
enjoyed listening to international music genres
including French cafe music, French pop, Italian
dinner music, opera, Oktoberfest music, and German
Teckno.
